You will need to be fit to climb the 530 stairs to the top of St.Pauls, with its  amazing view of London. The climb is in 3 stages - the first   
259 steps lead to the Whispering Gallery , if you  talk close to the wall, it will carry your words to the opposite wall. Another 119 steps, will lead you to the Stone Gallery  with its exterior viewing platform before the final 152 steps and the Golden Gallery.
Allow time to see the rest of the cathedral and don't miss the historic crypt.



South Bank & Bankside
End your day by having a walk along the South Bank - the
 beautiful riverside stretch following the Thames from Lambeth to Blackfriars bridges. Within easy walking distance to Covent Garden and Westminster, it's the perfect location for a relaxing stroll. The packed programme of art, theatre, exhibitions, music, film and free events means South Bank is an inspiring place to explore for all ages. There are plenty of eating and drinking options on the South Bank or you might want to spend the evening at the National Theatre.
Tate Modern
From St. Paul's cross the Millenium Bridge to Tate Modern - situated on Bankside, an area on the south bank of the River Thames, opposite St Paul's Cathedral,
Created in the year 2000 from a disused power station, Tate Modern displays the national collection of international modern art (since  1900). It includes important masterpieces by both Picasso and Matisse and one of the world's finest museum collections of Surrealism.

British Museum - day 2
Begin your day with a very quick tour of the highlights of the British Museum - even if you only spend one hour try to see:
The Rosetta Stone, Assyrian Lion Hunt reliefs, Parthenon sculptures, Oxus Treasure, Mummy of Katebet, The Royal Game of Ur, The Lewis Chessmen,  Samurai armour.
The Museum houses a vast collection of world art and artefacts and is free to all visitors.
Short tours (30-40 minutes each) introducing different areas of the Museum's collection, are led by volunteer guides.

Continue your journey by heading for 
Trafalgar Square, London and the National Gallery - see one of the great collections of Western European art for free.
Make the most of your time by joining a free Guided tour - 60-minute taster tour of the collection - every day 11.30am and 2.30pm. Meet at the Sainsbury Wing Information Desk.
Exit Trafalgar Square through Admiralty Arch and walk down the Mall to reach Buckingham Palace.

Allow half of your first day for this unmissable highlight - if you visit in high season, buy your ticket online unless you are prepared to join the long queues for tickets at the tower.
Join one of the Yeoman Warders 'beefeaters' on an free hour-long tour of tower - They are a mine of information and something of a tourist attraction in their own right.
Don't miss the Crown Jewels, Traitor's Gate and the White Tower - you'll also get a good view of Tower Bridge before you leave to make your way to St. Paul's Cathedral..

The London Eye
Buckingham Palace
The palace is both the office and London home of Her Majesty The Queen. The State Rooms are used when entertaining guests on State, ceremonial and official occasions. During August and September when The Queen is in Scotland, the Palace's nineteen state rooms are open to visitors.
Changing the Guard takes place on the forecourt of Buckingham Palace at 11:30 daily from May until the end of July and on alternate days for the rest of the year, weather permitting.
Walk through St. James's Park to Westminster.


Westminster Abbey - Kings, Queens and statesmen are buried here.

This unique 700-year-old building is a must-see - it  has played a major role in British history - Kings, queens and statesmen are among the 3,000 people that are buried in the Abbey.
The wedding of Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton will take place at Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011.
Cross Westminster Bridge and look back at the views of the Palace of Westminster and Big Ben and then finish your 2 day whirlwind trip with a ride on the London Eye.

What to see in London in 2 days? Although, two days is a very short time to spend in London - by following the itinerary on this page you should be able to see most of the unmissable and iconic highlights of London in a 2 day tour. Tate Modern, the British Museum and the National Gallery are all free and if you settle for admiring St.Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey from the outside, it wont cost you anythng.
