The handover of the Olympics from Beijing to London, due to take place in the Mall on Sunday 24 August, 2008, will mark the moment and the day that London officially takes up the role of host city for the 2012 Olympic Games.
A free concert for 40,000 people will get going in the Mall as the Olympic flag is handed over at the close of the Beijing Games.
Around 2.30pm UK time, the Olympic Flag will pass from the Mayor of Beijing to the Mayor of London.
Don't worry if you haven't got a ticket for the concert because the Beijing closing ceremony, the concert and the party in The Mall will be broadcast on TV and on Giant screens in almost every region in the U.K. - including: Manchester, Liverpool, Derby, Cardiff, Middlesborough, Plymouth, Portsmouth and Swansea and also in the London areas of Canary Wharf, Greenwich, Hackney, Notting Hill, Tower Hamlets and Walthamstow.
The concert will feature top bands, National and International recording artists, including James Morrison, Will Young, The Feeling, Il Divo, Katherine Jenkins, McFly and lots of special, high-profile guests.
Teams of workers are busy putting the final touches to the Mall - painting flag-poles, erecting marquees and doing everything to ensure that this historic part of London will look its very best when the rest of the world beams in on London this coming Sunday.
